Dassault Falcon 900

Dassault Falcon 900

The Falcon 900 is the first of a range of Super Large tri-jets produced by the French manufacturer Dassault that also includes the 900B, 900C, 900EX, 900DX and 900LX. It was first launched in 1984 as a development of Dassault’s Falcon 50, providing a larger interior, while still being powered by three turbo-fan engines. When it was first produced, the Falcon 900 was known for its long-range capabilities and the aircraft is able to accommodate up to 14 passengers, depending on seating configuration. The original Falcon 900 has been upgraded time and time again, which has succeeded in maintaining the range’s popularity and the most recent model, the 900LX, combines excellent speed, efficiency and range to offer an exceptional overall performance.

The Dassault Falcon 900 programme was announced in 1984 as the company's entry into the large-cabin trijet market. The aircraft incorporated composite materials throughout its structure and represented a significant step forward in business aviation design.

The Falcon 900 was certified in 1986 by both French and U.S. authorities, with production beginning in 1987. The aircraft featured three Garrett TFE731-5AR engines in a configuration similar to the smaller Falcon 50, but with increased size and capacity.

Production of the original 900 continued from 1984 to 1991, establishing the foundation for what would become one of business aviation's most successful aircraft families. The aircraft offered operators the reliability of three engines combined with transcontinental range capabilities.

The Falcon 900 served as the base for numerous variants, with over 500 aircraft delivered across the entire 900 series. A total of 160 original Falcon 900s and 900Bs were delivered worldwide, proving the market's appetite for Dassault's trijet design philosophy.
