Aircraft selection: The five aircraft models displayed for each route are the most frequently used on that route in the flight records. Flights across the cities’ main airports are combined when selecting them.

Estimated flight times: Flight times are calculated estimates based on route distance, aircraft performance and recorded durations for the same aircraft model or comparable flights. Times are rounded to the nearest 5 minutes and may vary with routing and operating conditions. Flight-time calibration uses records from 2020 through October 2026.

Flight activity: sources and methodology

Activity methodology: LunaJets filters and enriches the recorded flights by matching them to airports, cities and aircraft categories, then aggregating them. Figures cover 1 January to 31 December 2025. The figures include private and business jets, VIP aircraft and turboprops. Helicopters and scheduled airline flights are excluded. The data was generated on 14 October 2026. This generation date is separate from the activity year.

Definitions: A private aviation movement is one recorded departure or arrival at an airport serving a city. A flight between Berlin and another city counts once in Berlin’s route total, whether arriving or departing. A return flight counts as a separate movement. A connected city is a distinct city with at least one qualifying private aviation flight to or from Berlin during 2025. The connected-city count covers the routes included in this dataset, not just those displayed in the table.

Busiest periods: Busiest periods identify a significant seasonal concentration in recorded movements in both directions during 2025. Isolated spikes are filtered out. Year-round means no qualifying seasonal concentration was identified, although activity can vary between months. A classification requires at least 30 annual movements, 99% statistical significance and an average monthly activity rate at least 1.75 times the rest of the year. Single-month periods also require recurrence checks using January to August 2026 records.

Two handling companies, BAS Berlin Aviation Service and ExecuJet, work from BER's General Aviation Terminal, and both offer passenger lounges. Schönhagen has a lounge and a conference room in its terminal. Eberswalde-Finow welcomes VIP guests personally at the aircraft.

Slot constraints & peak demand

Berlin Brandenburg (BER) is slot-coordinated, so every flight needs an allocated slot. A night flight ban applies from midnight to 5 am, with limits on flights from 11 pm to midnight and from 5 am to 6 am. At Schönhagen, passengers from outside the Schengen area need border clearance registered 48 hours ahead.

Transfers & airport choice

BER is 30 to 40 minutes by car from central Berlin (26 km). Schönhagen is 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes away (68 km), and Eberswalde-Finow 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes (72 km). The two small airfields therefore suit trips to Brandenburg better than trips into Berlin.

For a trip to Berlin itself, BER is the practical choice, as the other two airfields are an hour or more from the centre by car. The point to settle there is the departure time, because of the night flight ban. Schönhagen or Eberswalde-Finow make sense only when the final destination lies south or north east of Berlin.

The Bode Museum on Museum Island with a boat on the Spree, Berlin

Sammlung Boros, in Berlin's Mitte district, keeps a private contemporary art collection in a Second World War bunker. It can be visited only on a guided tour that must be booked online. The Bode Museum on Museum Island shows sculpture from the early Middle Ages to the late 18th century, along with Byzantine art and a coin collection. For an evening out, Spielbank Berlin has a casino directly at the TV Tower on Alexanderplatz, open every day from 11 am to 3 am.

Château Royal in Berlin's Mitte district is a hotel and an art gallery in one. It occupies two historic buildings from the 19th and 20th centuries and shows artworks by contemporary artists. Schlosshotel by Patrick Hellmann is a manor house from 1912 in the Grunewald district.

Grill Royal, a steakhouse on the Spree in Mitte, has been open since 2007 and is known for its grilled meats.
