Charter a private jet to the iconic Hawaiian IRONMAN Triathlon

The first IRONMAN event took place in 1978 and as the written rules were handed to the 15 participants, the last page read: “Swim 2.4 miles! Bike 112 miles! Run 26.2 miles! Brag for the rest of your life!”.

Four decades later, the toughest one-day multi-discipline endurance race in the world gathers thousands of hard-working international athletes at the IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona. Situated on the Big Island of Hawaii, Kailua-Kona is the main hub on the Hawaiian west coast, referred to as the “Kona Side”. Called both “Kailua” and “Kona” by locals, the city welcomes vacationers year-round. North of the city, travellers find endless beaches and world-renowned golf courses, and south of it, where the famous Kona coffee is grown, are some of Hawaii’s best snorkelling spots.

Every 2nd Sunday of October, in Kailua-Kona’s sun-drenched landscape, athletes who excel in swimming, running and cycling, fight to earn the title of IRONMAN World Champion.

Representing the pinnacle of personal accomplishment, the race is life changing.

It asks for endurance, courage and dedication, and several months, sometimes years, of preparation. Only exceptionally talented triathletes are qualified, as getting a spot is hard. Very hard. The race welcomes participants from over 80 different countries, between 18 and 85 years old who have earned the opportunity to compete by qualifying at one of the numerous IRONMAN competitions across the globe.

The ultimate test lasts 226 kilometres, across the arid lava fields of Kona, where athletes face crosswinds of over 72 km/h under a fiery sun: a challenging journey for body, mind and soul.

Crossing the historic finish line on Ali'i Drive means victory, overcoming self-doubt and achieving big dreams, and above all, it proves the IRONMAN mantra: “anything is possible”.

Witness the impossible to the beat of the Hawaiian drum by flying to Kona International Airport at Keahole (KOA) by private jet. Lying about 15 minutes’ drive from the city centre, this airport is closer to the race than Hilo International Airport (ITO). Let our team coordinate any pick-up service you might need. You may also opt to organise a group charter as LunaJets is experienced in accompanying top athletes, their entourage and spectators taking part in the world’s most inspiring race. We help you reach Kailua-Kona in utmost comfort, transporting your bicycle(s), sports gear and other equipment, too.

We can only but suggest taking advantage of your trip to the Pacific Ocean to visit more Hawaiian islands: Oahu (Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, also known as Honolulu International Airport, HNL), Maui (Kahului Airport OGG or Hana Airport HNM, private jet only), Kauai (Lihue Airport LIH), and other islets of the archipelago. Also, with a six-hour flight to Papeete Airport (PPT), you could reach another piece of paradise: Tahiti, French Polynesia.
