Five Can't-Miss Springtime Destinations for Your Easter Escape
1. Mallorca
The largest of Spain’s Balearic islands is a perfect destination in Springtime.
Enjoy the sun, sea, and scenery with fewer crowds. Stay at one of the island's many luxury beach resorts or rent a villa for the week. Travel through the Tramuntana mountains, hike through the forests, and explore the coves and harbours. For a bit of history, stop by the hilltop monasteries, or visit the island’s charming villages and enjoy local Easter traditions, including the processions and fairs. Then stroll through Palma and enjoy the nightlife.
2. Corfu
Spring is an ideal time to stop by the verdant island of Corfu, just off the northwest coast of Greece. Venture along its cypresses for a healthy hike, and visit the charming hilltop villages. Find Corfu’s highest peak at 906 metres north of the island, explore the 17th-century monastery there, and refresh yourself at the summit cafe. Stop by Old Town to explore the island's rich history under Byzantine, Venetian, French and British governance. Don’t miss the two Venetian fortresses that defended Old Town. Enjoy the many sandy coves, beautiful beaches and rocky outcrops of its shores. While the waters may still be too chilly for most to dive into in April, you can swim in the pool of your resort or villa and enjoy the clear blue waters of the Ionian Sea by boat. Enjoy a meal in one of the many tavernas and restaurants serving traditional Greek delicacies, fresh-caught fish and seafood.
3. Koh Samui
Venture further to Thailand for a tropical escape, and enjoy a stay in the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui on Laem Yai Bay. Enjoy windsurfing, golf, or treat yourself in the spa. Rooms include a private infinity pool with views of the gardens or the Gulf of Siam. Venture on the hotel’s SIAMSEAS cruising boat to visit Marine National Park. Alternatively, enjoy the exclusive beachfront of Banyan Tree Samui along Lamai Bay. Its villas feature a private terrace with ocean or garden views. Drive to the Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks for scenic views. Pamper yourself at The Rainforest spa. Enjoy diving or fishing tours, or take a leisurely bike ride.
4.Barbados
The Caribbean island of Barbados is another ideal destination for those who crave sunshine and sports during their Easter break. The island offers two distinct environments: the east coast on the Atlantic, wild and rugged, and the west coast on the Caribbean, calm and soothing. Rent a villa with Snorkel with sea turtles, book a sailboat trip, go diving, or surf—golf at the Sandy Lane Country Club with breathtaking ocean views. While a wide range of restaurants is available on the island, couples should not miss a romantic night of fine dining at The Cliff restaurant.
5. Paris
Paris is in bloom in springtime. Enjoy the magnolias, cherry trees, daffodils, and tulips at Palais Royal Garden, Tuileries Garden near the Louvre, Parc Monceau, Luxembourg Garden, or the botanical gardens at Jardin des Plantes. To get some artistic inspiration, stop by Monet's garden in Giverny. For a spring worthy of royalty, venture out to the Versailles palace gardens. You can also enjoy the city’s many historic sites and museums with fewer crowds.
