Helicopter transfer during winter ski holidays
The winter time is one of the busiest for the private aviation industry - clients are looking to spend the days on the slopes of esteemed ski resorts. Booking a private jet for these snowy trips is definitely an option, but with some airports being subjects to slots, there is an alternative for your private flight to the mountains.
Chartering a helicopter to bring you to the desired destinations is indeed a fantastic way of making sure to avoid private jet restrictions in those areas (short runways, weather sensibility, etc). A helicopter gives you a wider variety of landing options, as many prestigious hotels and resorts have their own helipad, meaning that you can get closer to your desired destination than with a jet.
When compared to a car transfer, a helicopter is definitely the better (and faster) option, as it can cut down a 60minute car ride to a 10minute helicopter flight.
Another major advantage of chartering a helicopter for your transfer, is the breathtaking view of the mountains that comes with it. A helicopter has a different way of approach than a jet, which gives the passengers the chance to obtain a better understanding of the area from above.
However, please note that there are some things to be kept in mind when flying with a helicopter:
Baggage capacity: very limited (possibility to transport skis in an attached basket)
Helicopters can only fly during daytime (some extensions possible on specific helicopters)
Two main kinds of helicopters: mono-engine (economy configuration) and twin-engine (VIP configuration)
But then again, there is one massive plus point that comes with a helicopter charter: have you seen any of the James Bond movies? Quite frankly, one cannot help it but look extremely cool when getting out of a helicopter.
