The United States Grand Prix is a motorsport event that has been run on and off since 1906 and was first raced as part of the Formula 1 World Championship in 1959. Since then it has grown to become one of the most popular events in Formula 1, having been held at a number of circuits across the States, including the Phoenix street circuit and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where the attendance record for a Formula 1 Grand Prix was broken in 2000. After a 4-year absence, Formula 1 returned to the United States in 2012 at the Circuit of the Americas just outside Austin, Texas, where the annual Grand Prix has been held ever since. This 20-turn track, which was opened in 2012, is made up of elements of some of the world’s finest Grand Prix circuits, including Hockenheim and Silverstone, while also having its own identity, featuring a variety of slow and high-speed corners to provide a thrilling spectacle for the 120,000 fans that the circuit can accommodate. The atmosphere and drama of the United States Grand Prix will ensure that even those who aren’t Formula 1 fanatics will enjoy an unforgettable experience.
