Louisville International Airport is a joint civil and military airport located 10km (10minutes) south of the city-centre. It has three runways of 11,887ft (3.6km), 8,579ft (2.6km), and 7,250ft (2.3km). The airport has customs clearance and one Fixed Based Operator and handling agent. It does not require slots and is open 24 hours a day. This airport is the third busiest airport in the US based on cargo traffic and the seventh busiest in the world. Louisville International Airport becomes particularly busy during the Kentucky Derby, which takes place every year at the beginning of May.
