See the stars and get your heart racing while enjoying the beauty and elegance of la Côte d’Azur.

Running back-to-back, these two events offer glamour, thrills and a flurry of exclusive events. Enjoy the Cannes Film Festival from May 16-27 and the Monaco Grand Prix from May 27-29.

Cannes

First conceived in 1939, then delayed by war in Europe to launch in 1946, the Festival de Cannes is the world’s most prestigious film gathering and a major cultural event. This year marks the 76th season with a 15-day line-up of films and a general celebration of the cinema as an art form.

Cannes offers many attractions beyond the silver screen, including shopping the designer boutiques at la Boulevard de la Croisette or simply taking a sunny promenade along the beachside of the Boulevard. Visit Le Suquet, the old quarter of Cannes and explore the Château de la Castre. People watch as you enjoy the fare of the bistros on Rue Saint-Antoine. If you want to escape the crowds, take a ferry to the Lérins Islands and visit the monastery at Île Saint-Honorat. Or stop by Fort Royal, on Île Sainte-Marguerite, the prison that once held the man in the iron mask, which has since been converted to a museum of the sea.

Monaco

Dating back to 1929, the Monaco Grand Prix is one of the world’s most prestigious automobile races, set in the challenging Circuit de Monaco. This thrilling Formula 1 race kicks off with two practice runs on Friday, May 27, a third practice run and qualifying on May 28, with the race day on Sunday comprising 78 laps of the 3337-kilometre circuit.

Beyond the race, you’ll find abundant activities in the Principality. Check the flag on the main tower, which marks whether the Prince is in residence. If it’s down, you may visit the Palais du Prince. Spend a pleasant afternoon at Jardin Exotique with breathtaking views of the oceans, and see the Musée Oceanographique. For luxury shopping, stop by Boulevard des Moulins and Avenue Princess Grace. Try your luck at the Casino Monte Carlo for thrills and glamour.

Either in Cannes or Monaco, hire a yacht for a tour to enjoy the Mediterranean waters.
