The Tour de France is a multi-stage bicycle race held annually since 1903 that generally takes place over 3 weeks during the month of July. It is widely considered to be the most prestigious of cycling’s three ‘Grand Tours’, which also include the Giro d’Italia and the Vuelta a España. The race’s course changes every year, although it is always comprised of a mixture of time trials, flat and mountain stages that see riders taking on the gruelling inclines of the Pyrenees and the Alps. Around 22 teams, made up of the world’s finest international cyclists, take part in the Tour de France, a race that tests every aspect of a rider’s technique, endurance and stamina before they reach the famous final stage in Paris, ending on the Champs-Élysées.
